Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency launches training for Vilnius coaches
2025-09-25The Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency celebrated its 20th anniversary with a special event. Guests from Lithuania and abroad shared their knowledge on the prevention of doping and manipulation of sports competitions at a special conference in Vilnius.
Dr. Ieva Lukošiūtė-Stanikūnienė gave a presentation at the conference on the activities of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), its structure, and its relationship with the national authorities responsible for doping prevention. The presentation focused on the update of the WADA Code and planned changes in the organisation's activities.
Council of Europe (CoE) representative Liene Kozlovska shared her thoughts on the CoE Anti-Doping Convention and the role of public authorities in the fight against doping.
Dr. Virginijus Kundrotas presented the theory and practical examples of Adize transformation.
The second part of the conference was opened by Anders Solheim, Head of the Norwegian Anti-Doping Agency. His presentation focused on future scenarios for doping control: the necessary changes in the legal framework, the responsibility of sports authorities, the symbiosis between national and international levels of anti-doping, and the use of artificial intelligence.
Finally, Christian Kalb, an expert on sports organisations and gambling regulation, discussed in detail the major flaws in sports integrity today. According to him, these include a lack of good governance, doping, manipulation of sports competitions, violence, corruption, discrimination and unsafe environments for children. The report also focused on illegal betting and its negative impact on the global sports ecosystem. Lithuania must urgently create a national platform for fair sport, he said, and provided information on Iceland's steps in this area.
In the evening part of the bicentenary, people and organisations that have contributed to the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency were honoured. The head of the Agency, Rūta Banytė, presented awards to its founder Dr. I. Lukošiūtė-Stanikūniene, L. Kozlovska, the representative of the General Prosecutor's Office, Zenonas Burokas, the Lithuanian Football Federation and the Lithuanian Police.
