Basketball player Andra Gabalytė is disqualified for taking banned substances

The Independent Anti-Doping Review Panel has reached a verdict in the case of basketball player Andra Gabalyte. For the use of banned substances, A. Gabalytė has been sentenced to 4 years of disqualification.

Klaipėda Neptunas playing coach A. Gabalytė was tested in March this year during a competition in Latvia. The athlete's body was found to contain the banned substance meldonium, which has been included in the list of banned substances and methods since 2016.

Since 5 April this year, Ms Gabalytė has been provisionally suspended from participation in competitions and other sporting activities, both as an athlete and as a coach.
