2018-02-09To provide information on the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) announcement regarding the new generation of BEREG-KIT Geneva safety vials supplied by BERLINGER, the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency has published a statement and practical advice for athletes.
The Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency shall be informed of WADA's investigation and shall make further recommendations if requested.
The Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency's doping control staff has never used the BEREG-KIT Geneva vials and continues to use the old Berlinger safety vial models for sample collection. However, Lithuanian athletes who may have to undergo doping controls abroad may be confronted with the use of the new generation of BEREG-KIT Geneva safety vials.
To make sure that athletes have no doubts, the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency advises:
Do not refuse the test.
On the Doping Control Form, please tick all complaints and write a comment.
Take your time to check that the bottle is tightly closed by gently twisting the cap until it is fully screwed on.
Once the closure is complete, follow the three steps:
1.Try turning the cap of the bottle anti-clockwise.
2.Try simply removing the cover by lifting up vertically.
3.Invert the bottle.
Report any concerns or suspicions you may have to the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency that conducted the testing.
