Molluscum in sport: a banned drug still tempts athletes
2025-07-14Representatives of the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency Kornelija Tiesnesytė and Aleksandras Kovalenka shared their experience at a seminar organised by the Lithuanian Football Federation (LFF) in Kaunas, Lithuania, on integrity in football and prevention of manipulation of sport competitions.
Representatives of the A-League, I-League, II-League, Women's A-League and other members of the football community attended the event at the Lithuanian University of Sport.
"Lithuania already has a legal framework in place to combat match-fixing: we have ratified the Macaolino Convention and the necessary amendments to the Law on Sport have been adopted. However, a legal framework alone is not enough, and it is equally important that the sporting community understands the risks of manipulation, the ways in which it is attempted and how to combat it. This is what the seminars, organised this time by the Lithuanian Football Federation, are about. I can safely say that Lithuanian football is probably the most advanced of all sports in terms of prevention of manipulation," Kornelija Tiesnesytė said after the event.
In addition to representatives of the Lithuanian Anti-Doping Agency, the seminar was also addressed by LFF Fair Play Officer Laura Augytė-Kamarauskienė.
